The Backpack Ministry seeks to identify and feed hungry children in Washington County.  Almost half the children in Washington County are on free or reduced lunches.  They often go hungry on weekends, snow days or holidays.  WHCC supplies food to students in need at High Point Elementary School.  Food donations (peanut butter) as well as financial donations are needed.  Please make checks payable to WHCC with "Backpack Ministry" on the memo line.  Volunteers are also need to pack backpacks.  Email let learn more about serving in this ministry.

Every child needs someone to believe in them. Sadly, many are without a role model to gently guide them with kindness and encouragement. As Christians, we are called to make a difference. Would you consider being a friend to a student this year?
As a mentor, your goal is to build a relationship with a child in one of our local elementary schools.  You will spend approximately an hour a week visiting with the child in the classroom and having lunch with them, building a relationship, encouraging their best, and serving as a good role model.  This is an opportunity to "show Jesus through service to others."  Sign up today to be an MVP in one child’s life. The impact may be eternal.
Contact with the schools and training is provided, as well as the paperwork for a required background check.
